History of an Everyday Joe

Say Hi, Ask a Question

Do I know you from?

Early Life

I was born in 1985 to Donna and Todd MacLennan, with brothers Joel and Tyler coming along a bit after me. We grew up in Belmont California where I attended Fox Elementary, Ralston Middle School, and Carlmont High School. I was an excellent student and prodigal nerd, but I found some time for extra curriculars along the way. I played youth soccer through the AYSO and later was a decent high school football player, a better high school field athlete (shot-put and discus), but couldn’t quite make it for any at the collegiate level. The sports did turn me into a gym rat from about 16-26 (I should really get back to that before I’m too old to move).

College

I attended UC Berkeley from 2004-2008 studying American history and political science, so basically I learned to make a coherent argument in writing from some very smart professors. I spent a great deal of time being “social” (partying), but it wasn’t time wasted as I met some of the most interesting and intelligent folks in the world that way. Want to really get to know a genius? Drink with them. What truly dominated the college years though was refounding a chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order (fraternity) at Cal. To do this day, one of the biggest challenges and achievements of my life but the bonds that endeavor formed give me another several dozen life long brothers.

Career

Since then, it’s pretty much been work all the time. The professional section is what you want for my work history, but in terms of placing me, it’s been Tutorpedia, CCAH, Vidi Emi (MindShare Design), Katch (formerly Vantage Media), Platonic Connections / FYR Golf and currently QuinStreet. Also a lot of consulting work under my name or previous brand, Glass Owl Digital Marketing.

Family

I met the love of my life Rachel MacLennan back in 2012 when she was still Rachel Tinker and we were married in August of 2017. We didn’t quite wait to get married to start our family, becoming proud parents to 5 leopard geckos in the couple years leading up to our wedding. I grew up keeping reptiles and I am blown away by how much personality these little guys and gals have, they are excellent pets. We did wait until after we were married to give our geckos a human little brother with our son Paxton born in March 2019. I won’t dwell on the gushy parental stuff here, but he is the best thing to every happen to me, followed by his mom in close second.

That’s my life up to this point at least, until you’re famous no one is very interested in your autobiography, but that is a little bit about me to help you figure out if I am the Adam MacLennan you are looking for.
